ADULT GYMNASTICS INSPIRED MOVEMENT
Gymnastics Inspired Movement classes are available for adults of all fitness levels to increase mobility, flexibility, agility, and core strength as well as challenge themselves by training with a gymnastic inspired philosophy.
The class begins with an active warm up that moves one through range of motion exercises. Once warmed up, the class will move into shoulder and wrist strength with a focus on handstands and handstand progressions. Handstands teach flexibility and balance as well as increase body awareness. The handstand motion can be broken down to accommodate the newest of participants or can be made more challenging by incorporating advanced handstand movements such a presses and walking. Following shoulder strength, the class uses gymnastics equipment for core strength on the bars, rings and ropes before moving into skill building stations and then cooling down with flexibility and mobility motions.
Following the above format, this class is designed to offer progressions at a variety of skill abilities and is offered in two different levels.
Level 1:
Focuses on mobility and increasing range of motion and flexibility. Incorporating gymnastics based strength training and basic skill building.
Level 2:
Continues to build on the flexibility, strength and basic gymnastics skills learned in level 1, but will spend time on working towards more advanced gymnastics movements (kips, tumbling movement, etc).
